Jillian Ballengee Archery Squad ELITE

Jillian is from West Virginia, 17 years old, and has been shooting for the last 5 years. She has recently graduated high school and she will be attending Union College in the fall where she will be apart of the archery team, while pursing a degree in accounting. Not only is Jillian an excellent example of what it means to be Elite competitively, she also spends her time volunteering and helping out a local archery team in her home state. The last 4 years is when Jillian started really shooting competitively and she has a made a big splash. She has won countless tournaments, one of them being the ASA Mathews Pro/Am in Illinois. We wanted to let her share her experience on that win with you all:

"ASA Metropolis was the hottest yet most exciting ASA tournament I have attended this year. I finally felt prepared and confident that I would finally be able to bring home my first ASA win in the Women’s known 45 division, this has been my first year ever shooting an ASA tournament and I was just beginning to get the hang of it and really understand how it works. I had been trying out several new techniques and was very anxious to try them out at the team shoot which was held on Friday where I was paired with four other amateurs and we shot against other “teams” on our range, we were able to finish 52 up and I was definitely feeling confident and comfortable with my shooting as the actual tournament was approaching the day after. After day one I was sitting in second only behind by two points, I was satisfied with my score although I walked off the range with the sense that I could have done better but I kept my mental game strong and put day one scores behind me. On day 2 of shooting I went for a more aggressive approach and shot for a lot more twelves even on difficult targets, I wasn’t holding anything back, I knew my equipment was preforming flawlessly and that it was up to me as the shooter at that point. I came off the range that day with a new personal best on twenty targets and ended up leading my class by 16 points! I truly felt like all the hours I spent shooting really paid off and it made everything much more worthwhile. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family and friends and of course the great companies who believe in my abilities as much as I do." -Jillian Ballengee
